Fishing Vessel Crew Documentation Requirements

Clear submissions. Verified qualifications. Efficient processing.

Applications relating to crew documentation for service aboard Zanzibar-flagged fishing vessels must include the supporting documentation outlined below. To ensure timely review and issuance, all submissions must be complete, accurate, and fully verifiable.

Required Application Documents1) Seafarer Application & Medical Fitness

• Completed seafarer application forms
• Valid medical fitness certificates
• Valid drug and alcohol test results

Medical and testing documentation must not be older than one (1) year from the date of submission.

2) Identification Photographs

• Two (2) recent colour passport-size photographs

Photographs must be clear, compliant with identification standards, and suitable for official registry records.

3) Officers’ Certificates & Licences

All officers serving aboard the vessel must provide:

• Copies of valid Certificates of Competency or professional licences
• Copies of relevant radio operator licences, where applicable

All licences and certificates must be valid and unexpired.

4) Ratings & Crew Qualification Evidence

Crew members serving in rating positions (including but not limited to Able Seafarers, Motormen, Bosun, and similar ranks) must submit:

• Reference letters confirming rank and relevant sea service
• Documentary evidence of experience consistent with the position applied for

5) Employer / Owner Confirmation

• Reference letters issued by the vessel owner or authorised manning agency

Such letters must clearly state:

• Name of the vessel
• Names of the seafarers included in the application
• Purpose of the documentation request

Compliance & Verification

All applications are subject to identity verification and document authentication procedures.
Incomplete, inconsistent, or unverifiable submissions will not be processed.

Applicants are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and validity of all information and supporting documentation provided.

Processing & Administration

Applications may be submitted through approved TZIRS channels or via authorised representatives.

Processing timelines commence upon receipt of a complete and compliant application package.
