The Tanzania Zanzibar International Register of Shipping (TZIRS) is the international ship registry operating under the authority of the Zanzibar Maritime Authority (ZMA). TZIRS is responsible for the registration and oversight of ocean-going vessels flying the Tanzanian flag, delivering registry services within a clear statutory, regulatory, and governance framework.

- TZIRS is established under the Marine Transport Act (Revised Edition 2006)
- Operates within the institutional framework of the Zanzibar Maritime Authority, created under the ZMA Act No. 3 of 2009
- This legal foundation provides the basis for the administration of an international ship registry in accordance with national legislation and international maritime obligations.
