Our Legal and Institutional Foundation
TZIRS is established under the Marine Transport Act (Revised Edition 2006) and operates within the institutional framework of the Zanzibar Maritime Authority, created under the ZMA Act No. 3 of 2009. This legal foundation provides the basis for the administration of an international ship registry in accordance with national legislation and international maritime obligations.
